INVISALIGN TREATMENT IN MONTREAL

Invisalign is a series of clear, nearly invisible aligners that patients must wear at all times, except when eating or brushing their teeth. In some cases, Dr. Normand Bach will recommend eating with the aligners in place to improve the movement of the teeth.

Invisalign aligners offer several advantages

Invisalign aligners offer several advantages. First of all, they’re nearly invisible and therefore more esthetically pleasing. Brushing and flossing are also much easier than they are with braces. What’s more, it’s easier to eat, as the patient doesn’t generally wear any appliances during meals.

On the other hand, there are also some disadvantages and limits to Invisalign treatment, just as there are with any other tool or instrument.

First of all, the patient must be motivated and disciplined throughout the treatment period.

If the aligners aren’t worn faithfully, they won’t get the job done. Second of all, Invisalign treatment isn’t suitable for all patients or for all malocclusions.

In fact, more complex cases generally require treatment with fixed appliances; this means having to wear braces. Last of all, Invisalign treatment is generally (although not always) more expensive than treatment with conventional or transparent braces.

Speak with Dr. Bach about Invisalign treatments in Montreal and see if it’s the right solution for you or your children.

WHAT IS AN INVISALIGN TREATMENT?

Invisalign consists of a series of aligners designed by a computer program, based on a mold of your bite. Each aligner in the series, which must be worn for two to three weeks, is designed to move your teeth in a particular way. You must wear the Invisalign aligners all night and all day, except when eating, brushing and flossing.
The Invisalign system is advantageous for several reasons:

  • The treatment is practically invisible.
  • Since you can remove the appliances, it’s much easier to brush and floss.
  • And since you remove it when eating, there are no dietary restrictions.
  • There’s also no metal to irritate the inside of your mouth.
  • However, this type of orthodontic treatment isn’t suitable for all cases. Certain malocclusions are more complex and require a different approach.
Treatment with Invisalign aligners won’t be effective if the appliances aren’t worn.

So the patient must be disciplined and follow the directions to wear them the required number of hours; otherwise, the treatment won’t work. Treatment with Invisalign may even be appropriate for teenagers in certain cases.

There will be regular follow-up visits with Dr. Bach every eight to ten weeks, during which he will make adjustments, verify that the treatment is progressing properly and supply the next aligner in the series.

The length of the treatment varies from six months to three years, depending on the complexity of the case. Since Invisalign treatment isn’t appropriate for all malocclusions, Dr. Normand Bach, Orthodontist will need to examine your bite during an initial consultation.
