This malocclusion was treated with two appliances to bring the upper teeth forward. The patient was lucky, as no other appliances or braces were necessary in order to correct his bite and achieve excellent alignment.
The patient’s upper left lateral incisor was set too far back, increasing the force exerted by the lower teeth, resulting in a risk of premature wear and tear to the misaligned tooth and damage to the temporomandibular joint.
This malocclusion was corrected with a single appliance to push the upper teeth forward.
Note the improvement in the condition of the gums around the misaligned lower tooth, simply as a result of correcting the malocclusion.
There was definite crowding in the upper and lower dental arch. We succeeded in aligning the teeth without making any extractions, but instead by slightly reducing the size of each tooth by a few tenths of a millimeter.
In this case, given the width of the teeth, the position of the lips and the placement of the teeth on the bone arch, we extracted some permanent teeth in order to correct the alignment and reduce the risks of future gum problems.
The patient was dissatisfied with the alignment of her upper right incisor.
This patient wanted to improve the appearance of his teeth without visible braces!
