Living with Braces

The offices of Dr. Normand Bach, Orthodontist are recognized for the quality of the care and service they provide at every stage of treatment. Whether you need fixed brackets (dental braces), Invisalign or clear braces, Dr. Bach has all the necessary skill and experience in orthodontic treatments to give you a perfect smile and a perfect bite.

However, undergoing an orthodontic treatment also involves certain concessions and nutritional discipline.

Therefore, you must avoid the following:

  • Hard and sticky sweets
  • Chewing gum
  • Caramels, licorices and other sticky food items
  • Ice and hard pizza crusts

It will also be necessary to cut fruits, vegetables and hard food items into bite-sized pieces.

Brackets and Dental Appliances

It’s also normal to feel some discomfort during the initial days after implementation of braces and other appliances. The pressure can be alleviated by taking anti-inflammatories, such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, etc.) or acetaminophen (Tylenol).

Some patients will also develop sores on the inside of their cheeks. You’ll be given dental wax so the soft tissues can have sufficient time to adjust to the new hardware.

The team at the offices of Dr. Normand Bach, Orthodontist is here to answer your questions and support you during this brief initial period of discomfort.

An orthodontic treatment with braces or Invisalign represents a major investment of time and money. In order to prevent prolonging the treatment unnecessarily, it’s important not to miss or show up late for your appointments

Our team promises to support you during every stage of your treatment.
